God Things

 

People have asked why we’re making such a life changing move at an age that most folks are looking toward retirement . . ., or aren’t we afraid of world issues outside the USA . . . , or how long are we planning to stay?  Our answer is always the same, ‘It’s a God thing’.

There is no doubt in our minds, this is God’s call on our lives.  We don’t know why He waited until we are 55 and 57 years old.  I guess you’re never too old to serve the Lord.  No, we are not afraid.  We have a unique peace of mind that He will keep and protect us there just as he has here and we plan to stay until Jesus comes, or our finances dry up.

Just take a look at what God has done to make it possible for us to serve Him in South Africa:


·         Invited to join W&W Team w/ Raleigh First Church 9/07

·         NTC approved for BTh the day we arrived, opening scope for student enrollment world wide

·         John inspired by Peter to complete Master’s degree

·         John’s application, curriculum and financial aid approved for on-line classes within 30 days

·         We felt God’s direction to put our home on the Real Estate market which we did on 3/8/08

·         Anna-Marie Lockard sent e-mail 4/12 asking. . . can you, could you, would you and for how long.

·         We enrolled in the last Cross Cultural class on the east coast (dates 5/ 9 & 10) next class 11/08 on west coast.

·         House sold while we were gone and got full asking price, w/ cash contract – (5/10/008)

·         Both automobiles sold for full asking price – 6/08

·         Furniture sold immediately w/ remaining items selling out at yard sale 6/08

·         Airline tickets purchased 06/08.  Great rate!!

·         Three year Visas applied for and received 07/08.

·         John took (4 wks) off from school for relocation.  Must post w/i 30 days to keep financial aid.  Next class begins on 29th day.

·         NTC providing housing and utilities

·         Needed reliable vehicle; rec’d offer to buy 3-4 year old car at $24k US.  Not in budget. 

·         Sent e-mail prayer request at 4:30 p.m. explaining need; received e-mail next morning at 4:30 a.m. w/ offer to buy another reliable vehicle for $5k

·         Friend offered to build and maintain web site at no charge.

·         Dogs adopted after prayer request during mission presentation at RFN

·         Packing for international move into eight suitcases for two people accomplished.

·         God has met every need, every detail, in order of priority from beginning to end in less than three months
